Mama Testimony:

My Experience with my seastar Unique Medina as my doula... Unique is calming, positive, and a fun person to be around. Through my pregnancy and labor she made sure i was always comfortable & didnt push me to do anything i didnt want to do. That is except at the end when it was feeling extra hard to push out my baby girl lol. She helped me with my courage to make it through because Im not gonna lie but that last hr of pushing, i was ready for an epidural lol. I felt I was pushing for a long time. I had my baby in the hospital due to certain circumstances. But I am glad Unique was there by my side and assisting me the whole way. I am incredibly Thankfull to know her. During the months of pregnancy, she was always there making sure i was alright. She always provided with no hesitation. She is a great ear & person that you never have to second guess. This woman is a true gift.

Amma’s Touch

Amma’s Touch is a practice deeply rooted in ancestral wisdom and intuition, passed down through generations, carried in the hearts and hands of women. From the moment I was initiated into this sacred work by a sister—without fully knowing what I was stepping into—I felt a profound recognition. Something ancient stirred within me, and even though I didn’t know exactly what I was doing at first, my soul knew: This is what I am meant to do. It was as though I had been preparing for this path long before I consciously realized it, as if the practice had been waiting for me all along.

The journey began unexpectedly, yet the calling felt undeniable. Each birth, each transition, each sacred moment reminded me that this work is not just a profession but a lifelong devotion—a spiritual path I am meant to walk. It is a return to the way our ancestors once supported life’s transitions, honoring birth and death as sacred thresholds, woven with love, care, and reverence. In these moments, I feel deeply connected to the women who came before me, those who stood at bedsides, whispered prayers, offered herbs, and laid hands with deep knowing.

Amma’s Touch is a practice of remembering—a return to an intuitive way of holding space that cannot be taught in books, only felt in the soul. The first time I assisted at a birth, something clicked within me, as if I had finally come home. It wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t need to be; the knowing was in my bones, guiding me in ways that words could not explain. I realized then that this is not just what I do—it is who I am. And I know now that this path is one I will walk for a long time, if not for the rest of my life.

Working with women has opened me to the profound wisdom that lies within the body’s natural rhythms. Birth is not just about bringing new life into the world—it is a portal of transformation, where mothers reclaim their power, families are reborn, and generations are woven together. In these spaces, I have witnessed the strength, beauty, and vulnerability of women as they navigate the unknown with courage. Every birth and every woman I have supported has become a teacher to me, showing me that healing happens when we listen deeply, not only to the people we serve but also to ourselves.

Through my work, I’ve learned that birth and death are mirrors of each other—both require surrender, trust, and presence. They are rites of passage that strip away what is unnecessary, leaving only the essence of what truly matters. Being present for these transitions has taught me how to sit with the intensity of life, to be still when needed and act when called, to let go of control and trust the process.

I’ve also grown more aware of the importance of herbal remedies and natural healing practices, which have been integral to this work for centuries. My heart longs to deepen my understanding of ancestral knowledge and herbal medicine, weaving it with modern care to offer holistic support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. There is immense power in reconnecting with the earth through these practices, just as our ancestors did, and I am committed to learning more about how to integrate these gifts into my offerings.

The women I’ve supported have been my greatest teachers. They’ve taught me the value of advocacy, reminding me that every mother deserves to feel seen, heard, and respected. They’ve shown me the importance of allowing space for emotions to flow without judgment and embracing the sacred messiness of birth. I’ve learned from their triumphs, their fears, their joys, and their heartbreaks. In supporting them, I have grown as a person, deepened my spiritual practice, and discovered the power of sisterhood—the way women come together to uplift one another in times of both joy and sorrow.

Amma’s Touch is not just a service; it is a way of life—a practice that honors the ancient connection between body, spirit, and community. It is a calling to serve with heart, hands, and soul, to create spaces where women feel empowered to birth in their own way, on their own terms. It is a continuous unfolding, an invitation to grow with every birth, every transition, and every experience along the way.

This path has shown me that birthwork is not just about bringing life into the world—it is about holding space for transformation, for mothers, families, and communities. It is about remembering the ancient ways and walking forward with reverence, trust, and love. With every birth I attend, I feel more certain that this is what I am meant to do. This is where I belong.
